Kate Beesley, a personal survivor of domestic abuse, is a trauma and domestic abuse specialist, DASH risk assessor, and educator.
This combination of personal experience and professional expertise fuels her belief that when professionals are trauma-informed and take a factual, empathetic approach to risk assessment and investigation, they can not only restore victims’ confidence but also reduce fatalities and improve outcomes for women and girls.
She believes the key to breaking this cycle of abuse lies in education. Women and girls need to be empowered with knowledge about coercive control, stalking, violence, and other abuse-related crimes. By understanding what’s reportable and how to engage with authorities, victims can begin to reclaim their power and live without fear.
Everyone deserves to live free from the shadow of fear, constantly looking over their shoulder.
She aims to change how professionals approach domestic abuse and empower women and girls to transition from victims to survivors. By arming them with the tools, knowledge, and support she hopes to help them secure a future of freedom for themselves and their families.
