A little about LOIS
Lois passed away at the young age of 54, but her story is one of resilience and transformation, a beacon of hope for those who knew her and those who will follow in her footsteps. Her life was marred by the shadows of abuse, beginning with an abusive father whose harsh words and actions left deep scars. These early experiences shaped her into a woman who, despite her inner strength, found herself entangled in an abusive marriage that lasted over twenty long years.
The abuse Lois endured was not just physical but also deeply psychological, eroding her sense of self and hope. Yet, within her, there burned a quiet determination to break free, to reclaim her life and live it on her own terms. It took immense courage, but Lois finally gathered the strength to leave her abuser and step into the unknown, she knew she had a friend in HH.
For the first time in her life, Lois experienced true freedom. Her spirit, long confined, began to soar. She spent her days exploring new passions, reconnecting with friends, and finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her laughter, once stifled, now filled the air with a melody that was joyous to hear. This one year of freedom, though short, was filled with more happiness and peace than she had ever known.
Lois’s unexpected passing came as a shock, but her legacy lives on. She became and will always remain an integral part of our HH family. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and the possibility of change, inspiring us to continue supporting survivors of domestic abuse and their children.
In honor of Lois, we are more committed than ever to providing safety, health, wellness, and long-term sustainability to those who need it most. Her journey from darkness to light reminds us that it’s never too late to find freedom and happiness, even if for a fleeting moment. Lois’s courage and spirit will forever light the path for others seeking to break free from the chains of abuse.
