RISE
Children’s Program
RISE focuses on strengthening safety, resilience, stability, and self-perception in children impacted by
domestic abuse by addressing both their emotional well-being and everyday needs.
The RISE Program is designed to support children as they move forward from crisis into stability,
normalcy, healthy self-perception, and positive growth. Many of these children have experienced
disruption, loss, and instability. RISE ensures they are not left behind in the rebuilding process.
Through this program, children receive essential items that enable them to fully engage in daily life and
childhood experiences. This includes clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, mentoring, and other
necessities that restore a sense of normalcy, dignity, and preparedness.

RISE also creates opportunities for children to grow, connect, and thrive by funding participation in extracurricular activities, school programs, and camps. These opportunities remove financial barriers and allow children to explore their interests, build friendships, and develop confidence beyond their circumstances. At the core of RISE is the development of inner strength and a healthy self-perception.
How a child begins to think about themselves, trust themselves, and believe in their ability to move
forward. Through consistent mentorship and positive role modeling, children build a healthy
self-perception, strengthen communication skills, and learn to use their voice in safe and constructive ways. They begin to navigate environments with greater confidence and form healthier relationships.
By combining practical support with personal development and a healthy self-perception, RISE addresses basic needs while investing in long-term well-being and stability.
RISE builds on the foundation of safety and healing, empowering children to move forward with inner strength, confidence, stability, and a renewed sense of possibility.

Children are not defined by the domestic abuse they have experienced. Through RISE, they are supported in building a future rooted in a healthy self-perception, confidence, growth, and opportunity.
As survivors participate in the Hopefull Handbags SHINE program, their children are concurrently supported through the RISE program.
While SHINE focuses on stabilizing the parent through safety, financial structure, and rebuilding self-perception, RISE addresses the specific emotional, developmental, and everyday needs of their children.
This coordinated approach ensures the entire family is supported simultaneously, recognizing that long-term stability is achieved only when both the parent and the child are equipped to move forward.
As the parent builds a foundation for independence, children develop resilience, inner strength, a healthy self-perception, a sense of safety, and empowerment, creating a stronger, more stable path forward for the family as a whole.

RISE Program Definitions
R - Resilience
Resilience is a child's ability to recover, adapt, and continue moving forward despite past instability or trauma. Through consistent support, structure, and positive experiences, children learn how to handle challenges, regulate emotions, and build confidence in their ability to overcome difficult situations.
I - Inner Strength
Inner Strength is how a child thinks and feels about themselves, their self-perception. It includes self-worth, confidence, and the ability to trust their own voice and decisions. Through mentorship, encouragement, and guided support, children develop a stronger sense of who they are, believe in their value, and begin to navigate life with confidence and clarity.
S - Safety
Safety is the foundation for all growth. This includes both physical safety and emotional security. RISE ensures that children have stable, consistent environments in which their basic needs are met and they feel protected, supported, and free from harm. A safe foundation allows children to focus, grow, and engage in everyday life.
E - Empowerment
Empowerment is giving children the tools, opportunities, and support to take ownership of their future. Through access to education, extracurricular activities, skill-building, and mentorship, children gain confidence in their abilities, learn to make positive choices, and begin to see real possibilities for their lives
